National Small Business Week (NSBW) is April 28 - May 4!
Small businesses are the heartbeat of our Madison economy and spirit! As we celebrate National Small Business Week, it’s crucial to acknowledge and support the contributions these businesses and people make to our community.
Why Small Businesses Matter
For more than 60 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated National Small Business Week, which acknowledges the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. This year, National Small Business Week takes place April 28 - May 4, 2024, and is when SBA officially recognizes their hard work, ingenuity, and dedication, including their contributions to the economy...
Small businesses create jobs, foster economic growth, and promote our community. They directly reflect the dreams and aspirations of the individuals who have taken the risk and the leap to owning their own business. From local mom-and-pop stores to innovative pop-ups, small businesses reflect the diversity, creativity, and vitality of Madison.
Don't just take our word for it! Successful businesses in Madison are already supporting and celebrating each other EVERY DAY! We wanted to take a moment and highlight 2 local businesses that are taking things a step further. This year, the owners of James Dell and Betty Jeffries have taken it as far as featuring a few of their neighboring businesses on social media this week. Shoutout to them and all of our downtown businesses who support their neighbors!
Supporting Small Businesses
Our small businesses have demonstrated resilience and adaptability over decades, even centuries in Madison. The COVID-19 pandemic presented so many unforeseen hurdles, forcing many entrepreneurs to pivot. Despite this, Madison small businesses have proven their resilience, highlighting their genuine spirit and determination.
Now it is imperative to continue supporting small businesses. Whether it’s shopping locally, dining at Madison and downtown restaurants, or even sharing their social media posts, or taking your friends to shop and dine at your favorite local spots, every action counts.
Celebrate and Support Small Businesses
During National Small Business Week and beyond, we hope you continue to celebrate all of Madison's small businesses and show your commitment to their success, and your community's success!
Shop local, spread the word on social media, and volunteer for organizations like Madison Main Street, Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, Madison Area Arts Alliance, Visit Madison, and even the City of Madison that promote entrepreneurship and economic inclusivity!
We can't wait to see you in downtown Madison!
