MUSIC IN THE PARK

"What should I expect, who will be there, and where do I park my golf cart?!" Continue reading to learn more about the upcoming Music in the Park, summer concert series.

What should I expect?

Music in the Park (MIP) is a signature event presented by Madison Main Street Program (MMSP.) This FREE, four-part- summer-concert-series, takes place on the second Friday night of the month from June through September. Two musical acts will perform for a lively crowd in a historic and iconic, downtown Madison location. The 2022 season will have split locations at Bicentennial Park and the Historic Broadway Fountain. June and August will see fans at Bicentennial Park. July and September will see fans at the Historic Broadway Fountain.

MMSP moved the event to Bicentennial Park in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While MIP has historically been held at the Broadway Fountain, the Bicentennial has been a wonderful location. This summer, MIP will take place at both locations. Approved food vendors will be permitted to set up at the event. Each event sees an average of 600+ attendees. So be sure to get there early, bring a lawn chair or blanket, and get ready to have a great evening!

Will there be food?

MMSP encourages all to grab dinner to-go from our wonderful local vendors, and/or the downtown businesses! Outside food items are permitted within the vent footprint. Please be respectful of our volunteers and the City Park property and properly dispose of any and all waste. Recycling and trash barrels will be available on-site for this event.

Can I bring my dog to MIP?

We are a pet-friendly event for friendly pets! Please keep your pet on a leash at all times and keep them close to your person. If your pet is misbehaving, please excuse yourselves from MIP. (Even the best pups misbehave sometimes, it’s no big deal! We get it) Please ensure your pet is respectful to our musicians, guests, visitors, and vendors. Please take your pets outside of the event footprint if they need to use the bathroom and remember to clean up after them!

Can I bring my golf cart?

You are welcome to enjoy the music and entertainment, right from the seat of your golf cart! There is dedicated parking on Central Ave, from Second Street to Vaughn Drive when MIP is held at Bicentennial Park. When MIP is held at Broadway Fountain, dedicated golf cart parking can be found where Third Street and Broadway St. intersect. Golf Carts are not permitted on City Park grounds or lawn, on the sidewalks, or in designated lawn seating areas. Violators will be asked to leave the event.

So, who will be there?

MIP is for everyone! Bring your friends, the family, the kids, the dogs, and the golf cart! This summer, we have an amazing lineup of artists for you.

Who manages Music in the Park?

MMSP is a 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 1979. As one of the piolet communities dedicated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, MMSP reports to Indiana Main Street under the Office of Community and Rural Affairs and is a Nationally-Accredited Main Street designated by the National Main Street Center. MIP is organized by the Madison Main Street Program. Over the decades, this event has grown and evolved, just as Madison has! We are thrilled to once again host this event that has been made possible by our sponsors and volunteers.
