The Trolley Barn Shops at 719 W Main Street is home to a mix of specialty shops for every occasion. Among them is MadArt+, a vibrant store owned by the dynamic duo, Brenda and Faye, where art, creativity, and friendly service come together to offer a wide range of unique gifts and pieces.

Faye and Brenda’s story goes way back—long before they opened MadArt+. The two grew up in Madison and attended school together. "Faye gave me a peanut when we were kids, and that’s how I found out I was allergic!" Brenda jokes. Fortunately, that peanut incident only strengthened their bond, paving the way for their future collaboration.

Faye spent several years in Louisville, working on her skills in specialty arts and crafts that always have a touch of sparkle and bling. Meanwhile, Brenda focused on her passion for photography and painting, capturing the beauty of Madison through her lens and brush. Eventually, Faye moved closer to Madison where she started persuading Brenda to join forces and open a business. "It took some convincing!" says Brenda, but after some back-and-forth, the two opened MadArt+ in March 2023 in the Trolley Barn.

At MadArt+, locals and visitors alike can find one-of-a-kind gifts inspired by the beauty of Madison. Photos and artwork by Brenda printed on cozy pillows, mugs, bookmarks magnets and more can be found all over the shop. Brenda’s vibrant paintings and printed canvases that line the walls can bring any room to life.  MadArt+ even has clothing, home decor, jewelry and accessories carefully and lovingly crafted by Faye.

Walking into MadArt+ is an experience in itself, with a burst of color welcoming every guest. Faye and Brenda are almost always behind the counter working on new products, but they never fail to greet their customers. "Our favorite parts of the day-to-day are creating new products and interacting with customers," said the duo. Visitors range from Madison locals to those who have traveled from New York, California, and even England!

After two years of meeting new faces, crafting beautiful pieces, and navigating the world of business ownership, Brenda and Faye have decided to close the doors of MadArt+ at the end of March 2025. But the story doesn’t end there. The two plan to continue creating from their homes and will also be hosting pop-up events, showcasing their art at The SPOT on Mulberry Street, and even being part of the Indiana Black Expo for the first time!

While MadArt+ will certainly be missed for its one-of-a-kind gifts and warm, welcoming atmosphere, we’re excited to see what’s next for Faye and Brenda as they continue to share their passion with the world.
