Founded in May 2020 by Sue Langdon, The Derma Bar started on Main Street with a vision. "A friend and I took a small idea and made it much bigger!" Sue recalls. Madison needed a medical spa downtown—a place where residents and visitors could enhance their natural beauty and prioritize their health and confidence!

After four successful years as The Derma Bar and purchasing the building in 3rd street, Sue partnered with Hannah Lair, leading to the addition of Rivertown Vitality. “Sue wanted to expand her services, and I wanted to focus on wellness. I created Rivertown Vitality to concentrate on building and expanding wellness services at The Derma Bar.” Said Hannah. “Sue is very knowledgeable in aesthetics and has cross-trained me in aesthetics over the last several months. She is also involved in the development of the wellness services as well.”

Together, The Derma Bar and Rivertown Vitality form a true powerhouse of women-led services. They provide an array of treatments, including facials, Hydrafacials, chemical peels, dermaplaning, micro needling, skincare products, IV infusion therapy, Botox, fillers, laser therapy, weight loss programs, hormone therapy, general wellness consultations, telehealth, and health coaching—plus more services on the horizon!

Sue and Hannah create a welcoming presence that puts first-time customers completely at ease from the moment they arrive. The treatment rooms feature sleek black furniture accented with pink and gold accessories, thoughtfully designed to enhance your experience with each service.

Beyond their craft, Sue and Hannah are committed to giving back to the Madison community. “We aim to help people feel better and become healthier overall,” they share. “Our clients come not just from Madison but from Jefferson County and beyond, often stopping at other local businesses as well.” The duo also is big on participating in and sponsoring events in the community. The Derma Bar is even a 2024 Cookie Stop for Holiday Open House!

Sue and Hannah are truly dedicated to providing a positive and comfortable experience for their customers. “I love taking care of people and seeing them leave happy,” says Sue. At The Derma Bar, health is a top priority. When asked about her favorite part of the day-to-day, Hannah replied, “Helping clients learn about their health and assisting them in reaching their goals.”
